When I arrive in any new destination, I always ask for shopping recommendations. So who better to ask than a friendly Penang local? I was lucky to have Tan Boon Hooi as my Grab driver who drove me from my hotel to another nearby shopping mall. Tan said:

“Gurney Plaza is the only place I go to shop!” Many thanks for the great shopping recommendation Tan! 🙏

Prangin Mall is a bargain lover’s paradise. If you are looking for cheap bargain prices for fashion, tech, computer accessories or electronic goods, this is your place.

Prangin Mall, Penang Malaysia

It’s a six storey building with over 600 stores with a layout of market stalls and some brand stores. The market section sells mainly no name fashion and electronics, but don’t let that deter you.

The items do the job. I picked up some great bargains for mobile and electronic goods that still have plenty of life left in them. If you buy a few items, some shops are even open to reducing the price.

Its easy to get lost inside with so many market stalls but well worth a visit if you have a few spare hours.

Open 10am to 10pm daily.
