Reality

However, the reality of the writing process involves long periods hunching over your computer sometimes without a break. This can play havoc on your posture, shoulders, neck and other parts of the body. Joint, muscle issues creep up on you slowly. The cause; repetitive overuse of muscles and long periods of sitting.

In the short term, your neck or shoulder may be sore and you think nothing of it. Long term this soreness could turn into tendonitis or something more serious that requires medical attention. This injury could stop you from doing the very thing you love most of all.. writing.

Solution

So what’s the solution? Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. There are so many good reasons for doing this. Mentally you will have a clearer mind. Physically your body will feel better.

This regular movement creates a much needed life balance. Another benefit, your writing productivity will improve. Amazing right?

Fact

Another healthy alternative is to use a standing desk. Instead of sitting for hours on end, try standing while writing. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but after a while you’ll wonder why you didn’t start doing this sooner.

Here’s to you and your writing. Make some time to be active and your writing productivity will increase. You will feel better too.
